TAKE 2 FOR PREVENTION

  • Take measures to lower high cholesterol.
  • Give up smoking.
  • Adopt a life-long healthy diet.
  • Avoid excessive alcohol consumption.
  • Manage diabetes.
  • Seek treatment for circulation problems.
  • Exercise daily.
  • Try to maintain an ideal weight range.

TAKE 2 FOR TESTING

  • The No. 1 stroke risk factor is high blood pressure.
  • Take 2 minutes to check your blood pressure regularly.

TAKE 2 TO KNOW THE SIGNS, including sudden:

  • Numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg – especially on one side of the body.
  • Confusion, trouble speaking or understanding.
  • Trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
  • Trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination.
  • Headache with no known cause.

TAKE 2 FOR TREATMENT

  • Call emergency services [i.e. 911 in the U.S.] at the first signs of stroke and/or go to the hospital.
  • Just 2 minutes can mean the difference between life and death or quality of life.
  • Even if symptoms disappear in a few minutes, call emergency services, because you may prevent a potentially forthcoming major stroke.
